DIY Dragon Zoo (stuffed animal storage)

Image
So I designed and built this stuffy zoo last night.  Build time about 2 hours and cost around $35.  You could probably do it faster if you had help for the cord stringing.  I was inspired by the toy store displays for stuffed animals and rubber balls. materials: 50' 1/4" shock cord 8' x 1"x4" "whitewood" pine * pack of 1 -1/4" - 1/4"crown staples propane torch or lighter hand saw or circular saw tape measure speed square pencil          *  This is the mill sanded stuff that Lowes calls "whitewood."  It's good for simple furniture                               projects since the mill finish is sanded and splinter free. Finished product guarded by Blackhorn the Dragon.  Tacking together the sides and bottoms.  The build is self explanatory from photos there is no complex joinery just 1/4 crown pneumatic staples.  Cutting the horizontal boards to 15" and 21" and vertical to 60" economized the 96" (8') boards

Standing Desk DIY - simple and adjustable

Image
I've been missing the standing desk I have at the office so I built my own last weekend.  The legs were just sourced from Amazon as a kit and the desktop was 3/4" premium sanded birch plywood from Lowe's.  I've used this same plywood on quite a few projects now and I've found it is very versatile and finishes easily.  It has very few voids so I can finish the edge with just a router and some sanding.    Anyway here it is:       Build pics (sorry didn't take any pics of the lacquer and sanding)   pass-through hole for cords edges smoothed and sanded adjustable crank mechanism This was a fun simple desk build that I expect will last for many years.
