A fantasy boat story.

Since most of us are stuck in the pandemic doldrums I thought I'd start this little blog to document my current endeavor.

While I was in Maine this summer I was unexpectedly introduced to RC sailing.  A neighbor loaned me his fathers RC Laser.  The Laser is such a simple design I it virtually sails itself and was perfect for a noobie like me.   I spent the final week in Maine checking winds and looking forward to the next outing.  RC Sailing is real fun!  All the joy of an RC plane but without the stress of crashing.

If I fancied myself a real skipper though I supposed I'd need to get my own boat.  I started researching and found Gary Webb's site of  RC sailboat plans.  Elegant period correct "fantasy boats" as he calls them.  Designed to sail just like the real thing, only smaller.  I landed on the design "Irene"  and I was all in.

In the coming months I intend to document my build progress.   If you have any questions feel free to comment and I'll do my best to answer quickly.

Scale print of the plans thanks to Ryan.  Ready to turn our office into a little boatyard.
