Budget Modern Birch Dining Table

We've been using a secondhand dining table for the last decade.  Since Brasstacks finished our kitchen remodel we decided it was definitely time for a new table.  My goal was to build a table that can seat 4 very comfortably, 6 max and built with minimal waste lumber.

Time to get to work.  Cutting the 4x8 Birch plywood down to allow double stacking.  Weather was perfect for outdoor work which is nice since my shop is not big enough to work with a full sheet of plywood.

This dude showed up.  His collar says his name is "Snyder" and is an "outside cat." He wasn't interested in this project at all.
Gluing everything together.

Decided to go with a 12 degree undercut

Ready for finishing

2 coats of lacquer
4 coats
5 coats and done.  I forgot to take any photos of the edge veneer and adding legs.  Using this stuff and these legs and a clothes iron.  There's also a 1x3 pine box underneath to provide rigidity.

Done!
