Emergency plumbing stuff

Late last year we started noticing some strange sewer issues.  Since the house is 110 years old the cast iron was suspect so I decided to dig it up.  I enlisted the help of a plumber who was ok with me doing all the digging, cutting, and concrete work.

All along the wall you can see the moisture.  This was because the pipe was leaking somewhere under the floor.  The floor needs to come out.

drain is finally exposed, the break is in the union between cast iron and clay behind the plastic bags.  The smell was pretty bad at this point.

This is where the pipes came together and where the leak was.  Basically no packing left in the 110 year old joint.

Thankfully the plumber knew just how to connect PVC to 100 year old clay pipe.  Happy to be working with a real pro.

Here's the expanding fitting up close.   The white part solvent welds to the pvc and screws into the rubber which expands the fitting.

This part was exhausting since I had to take the wheelbarrow down the cellarway.  I didn't want concrete dust in the house.

  So here's some pictures of work over the winter up to now.  I didn't much feel like making posts about lately so I'm just kind of throwing together all the photos I took.  A lot of this is out of order. How to: Renew Apple MDM Certificate for Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune requires an Apple issued certificate to manage Apple devices.    Apple only issues this cert for 365 days and it is critically important to remember to renew it before expiration.     If this cert is allowed to expire   ALL APPLE DEVICE ENROLLMENTS WILL BE LOST .     This obviously would be very bad so we want to renew this early to make sure this doesn’t ever happen. Apple does do us a favor and notify us at 30 days and 10 days of the pending expiration of this cert.   Additionally I would recommend setting up some failsafe reminder either via a calendar entry or through additional monitoring.   As of today there doesn’t seem to be any automatic monitoring so I would recommend implementing something like this . Renewing the Cert (time to complete 5- 10min )  Open up Intune for your Tenant (endpoint.microsoft.com) and click "devices" in the left hand pane. Phacus sp. @ 400x - using a pixel 5 for microscopic photography/video

This afternoon I decided to see if my phone camera would work on my microscope. I was happy to discover it actually works pretty well considering. Using just a phone tripod arranged in front of the eyepiece of my Ken-a-Vision 400x I was able to get some shots of a cute little phacus in a pond water sample.  I uploaded a short video in which you can just make out the spinning flagellum.  It is difficult to see it at 400x but you can spot the movement in the video better. I'll take what I learned here and probably try to make something a bit more stable to hold the phone near the eyepiece.   Phacus sp. 400x   Phacus sp. 400x
